Uber and Spotify have teamed up to bring passengers a more personalized traveling experience. Now, Uber users can pick their Spotify playlist to listen to while in an Uber car.<\/p>\n

The partnership was announced last Monday by Uber CEO Travis Kalanick and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek. \u201cIt\u2019s the first time we\u2019ve personalized the experience inside the car,\u201d Kalanick said. \u201cAnd for music lovers, that\u2019s nirvana.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spotify users who have paid subscriptions can connect their accounts through the Uber app, and have their music playing when the car pulls up. So far, the feature is available in ten cities, including London, Los Angeles and Sydney.<\/p>\n

According<\/a> to Ek, the idea of the Spotify and Uber collaboration is that on-demand cars are a thing of the future, just like on-demand music through Spotify. \u201cInstead of just doing car integrations, we thought about \u2018what is the next generation of transportation system?’\u201d Ek said. \u201cUber is just such an obvious fit for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, Uber looks forward to creating an even more complete profile of their users. Knowing what music passengers are listening to gives Uber more advertising opportunities and data.<\/p>\n

Uber drivers, however, don\u2019t have to enable the music in their app. If music tastes clash between the passenger and driver, the drivers have full control over the volume of the music as well.<\/p>\n
