Step 1: <\/strong>Know Your Current Needs and Goals<\/a><\/p>\n

\nBefore you begin the process of moving your data and applications to the cloud, it\u2019s crucial to consider any leases, subscriptions, or other obligations you have. Here are just a few of the different types of commitments you might need to keep in mind as you prepare to switch over to cloud-based solutions and services.<\/p>\n

Technology leases and terms. <\/strong>If you\u2019re leasing any technology\/hardware, be sure to take the terms of those agreements into account (and ensure you aren\u2019t violating them in any way) to avoid any issues as you plan and carry out your move to the cloud. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Subscriptions. <\/strong>Similarly, if you currently subscribe to any services and\/or applications, you\u2019ll want to think through what the migration will mean for them as well. For example, you might want to move your data from these applications to a different cloud-based app or service.<\/p>\n

Rented space.<\/strong> Do you rent or own your physical office space? If you\u2019re moving away from on premise equipment in favor of cloud-based solutions (e.g., swapping on-site servers for virtual ones<\/a>), you might want to scale down. If you\u2019re renting, depending on the terms of your lease, you could potentially cut costs by transitioning to a smaller space.<\/p>\n
