1. What is blockchain? <\/strong>When people exchange currency (digital or otherwise), they need to keep track of transactions by using some kind of database. For cryptocurrencies, a network of peers keeps a decentralized historical record of transactions called the \u201cblockchain,\u201d according to Blockgeeks Inc.<\/a><\/p>\n

It\u2019s called a blockchain because groups of recent changes\/transactions regularly get bundled into a single \u201cblock\u201d and added to the \u201cchain,\u201d according to an article for The Guardian<\/a> by technology reporter Alex Hern. 2. Why is Salesforce interested in developing a blockchain product? <\/strong>Salesforce has a reputation as a company that looks to adopt cutting edge technologies, TechCrunch reports. In line with that, it makes sense that the organization is interested in blockchain.<\/p>\n

In an interview<\/a> with Business Insider in March, Salesforce co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff mentioned that he started thinking about the company\u2019s blockchain strategy while attending the World Economic Forum at a hotel in Switzerland where there also happened to be a crypto conference.<\/p>\n

When will they launch this product? <\/strong>Benioff has said they hope to introduce a blockchain and cryptocurrency product by Dreamforce, Salesforce\u2019s annual customer conference, according to TechCrunch.
