It’s been an eventful year for Avaya so far. At the technology company’s annual conference, Avaya ENGAGE, earlier this year, the leading communications solution provider announced the formation of\u00a0Avaya Cloud<\/a>, a new organization entirely focused on cloud-based solutions and services<\/a>. The formation of this unit and the company’s decision to focus on public, private, and hybrid cloud offerings was exciting news in the realm of unified communications (UC).<\/p>\n

During a recent lunch and learn event, our team learned about Avaya Cloud and the organization’s expanded cloud-based offerings<\/a>. Here’s a quick recap of what we covered.<\/p>\n

Provider Overview: Avaya’s New Cloud-Focused Organization
\n<\/strong>Avaya Cloud debuted this past January following Avaya’s restructuring and launch as a publicly traded company. Meant to strengthen and expand the organization’s presence in the cloud solution provider space, the new unit has one main mission: driving cloud solutions and services for Avaya. Avaya Cloud Senior Vice President and General Manager Mercer Rowe previously worked for IBM, where he served as vice president of strategic partners for the company’s Watson and cloud platforms. Rowe is now responsible for private, public and hybrid cloud solutions.<\/p>\n

Additionally, in March, Avaya launched its\u00a0Cloud Master Agent program<\/a>\u00a0to accelerate cloud sales to small and midsize businesses. Under the program, sales agents connect businesses with Avaya, which then handles the rest of the transaction, including contracting, provisioning, managing and billing.<\/p>\n
