Last year, the company announced at Microsoft Ignite, its annual conference, that it had a new vision for intelligent communications with Teams at its core.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stratospherenetworks.com\/blog\/your-guide-to-microsoft-office-365-boost-efficiency-with-microsoft-teams-skype-for-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Teams<\/a> \u2013 which is already available to customers and currently integrates with Skype for Business \u2013 offers a range of next-gen UC features, including the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Integration with other Office 365 apps<\/li>\n<li>Extensive chat capabilities (e.g. private chats, group chats, file sharing, option to co-author content)<\/li>\n<li>Online meeting options (team meetings, live streaming, and conference calls for mobile, desktop, and Skype Room Systems)<\/li>\n<li>Cross-device communications within the Microsoft partner ecosystem<\/li>\n<li>Enterprise-grade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stratospherenetworks.com\/managed-cybersecurity-solutions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">security and compliance<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Phone system and calling plans that allow for making\/receiving calls via phone, mobile, PC and Mac<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On August 24, Microsoft announced <a href=\"https:\/\/techcommunity.microsoft.com\/t5\/Microsoft-Teams-Blog\/Microsoft-Teams-is-now-a-complete-meeting-and-calling-solution\/ba-p\/236042\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"external external_icon\">via its Teams blog<\/a> that the company \u201chas completed our roadmap for bringing Skype for Business Online features and functionality into Teams, and Teams is ready to meet your messaging, meeting and calling needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teams vs. Skype for Business: 9 Benefits Identified by Stratosphere<br \/>\n<\/strong>If your business currently uses Skype for Business and hasn\u2019t transitioned to Teams yet, you might want to know what this new UC client offers that Skype doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Some of our departments have already gone through the upgrade, and we\u2019re glad to share their insights. Here are some things our data infrastructure team members have observed that Teams does and Skype doesn\u2019t (or doesn\u2019t do quite as well).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Persistent chat:<\/strong> Users can easily see what was said in the past and search chat logs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Persistent group chats:<\/strong> This allows team members to collaborate even if they aren\u2019t all online.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mentions:<\/strong> Users can mention another person to get their attention.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A dark theme:<\/strong> Our team members report it\u2019s easier on the eyes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ability to paste images directly in-line with chat:<\/strong> This is an advantage over Skype, which requires both users to be online and perform a file transfer. Then the recipient had to open the file manually, which our team members found annoying.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gif integration and traditional emojis: <\/strong>Chatting with coworkers just got a bit more fun.<strong>\n<p><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Being able to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"external external_icon\"><strong>mask links<\/strong><\/a><strong>: <\/strong>Users can turn phrases into links to relevant URLs.<strong>\n<p><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mobile application: <\/strong>With an increasing number of workers doing their jobs outside of the office, a high-quality mobile UC application can make a big difference in productivity.<strong>\n<p><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Better screen sharing options<\/strong>: Users can share their mobile device\u2019s screen on iOS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Microsoft has made an <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoftteams\/faq-journey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"external external_icon\">FAQ available<\/a> concerning the upgrade from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams that should answer any questions you have about the process.
