Use Google to find the answer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stratospherenetworks.com\/blog\/argument-use-google-to-find-the-answer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a> has created a team to generate radical ideas to find remedies for the world\u2019s biggest problems, and they call the project &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wesolveforx.com\/\" class=\"external external_icon\" rel=\"nofollow\">Solve for X<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tackling the biggest global issues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It might not be simple however the individuals behind the project are enthusiastic and eager. They think that our technologies are untapped resources and they compare the forward thinking happening in the \u201cSolve for X\u201d project to the groundbreaking thinking that was needed to get humans on the moon. Google describes it this way: &#8220;This combination of things\u2014a huge problem to solve, a radical solution for solving it and the breakthrough technology to make it happen\u2014is the essence of a moonshot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tackling water scarcity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Mashable.com recently ran an intriguing <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2012\/02\/06\/google-solve-for-x\/\" class=\"external external_icon\" rel=\"nofollow\">feature story<\/a> on the &#8220;Solve for X&#8221; project. Mashable cited the account of a participant in a &#8220;Solve for X&#8221; retreat who said that the minds gathered with him were working on the huge issue of global water scarcity. What kind of solutions are &#8220;Solve for X&#8221; members devising to handle this concern? One involved forward osmosis with recycled ammonium salts. If you have little idea what that means, don&#8217;t fret\u2014the people at &#8220;Solve for X&#8221; do.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The need for technology brain trusts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Solve for X&#8221; might not generate any real, practical, solutions for the world\u2019s problems but the brain trust idea certainly has potential. Technology has, and can, change the world for the better; we just need outside the box thinking to come up with ideas.
