Tom McCormick is the director of project management for Stratosphere Networks and Converged Communications Systems (CCS). He has experience with low-voltage cabling and infrastructure installations, field technician work on PBX service tickets, full-blown PBX installations and upgrades, project management, VoIP engineering, and everything in between.
His career began in 1988 when he attended DeVry Institute of Technology and earned a voice and data communications certification. After graduating, he started working for a Chicago communications company as a union apprentice in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 labor union, pulling low voltage cabling for businesses and running PBX service tickets as a field technician. After completing his apprenticeship, he became a journeyman and took on more complex engineering responsibilities, working on Nortel and Avaya large enterprise systems. During that time, he completed numerous PBX/VoIP installations and upgrades and managed his own projects.
He left the Chicago communications company to lead the enterprise PBX division at a start-up company and Avaya business partner. In that role, he served as an operations manager overseeing field techs, in addition to working as a VoIP/PBX engineer and pre-sales design engineer.
Following his time with the start-up and before joining the Stratosphere/CCS team, Tom took on a similar role with another business communications company, working with Avaya systems and Shortel UC phone systems.
In his current role, Tom serves as a field tech, complex VoIP engineer, and Level 2 or 3 support desk tech, in addition to handling project management responsibilities.
Tom holds various certifications, including Avaya Aura Contact Center Implement, Avaya Aura Contact Center Design, Avaya Contact Center Select Support, Avaya Aura Core Components Implement, Avaya IP Office Platform Implement, Avaya IP Office Platform Support, Avaya One Cloud UCaaS Calling Design, and Avaya Session Border Controller for Midmarket Solutions Technical Associate.
Tom currently lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with his wife, Brigid. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, listening to classic rock music, playing golf, going to the movies, and playing fantasy football.
