CHICAGO - Stratosphere Networks will sponsor GRIN2B Foundation's first cocktail reception fundraiser, Gather for GRIN2B. The event will take place on Monday, October 7 at Found Kitchen and Social House in Evanston from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will help fund research on GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder. GRIN2B is a gene on the short arm of the 12 th chromosome and is part of a family of seven genes that encode proteins that create a receptor that sends chemical messages between neurons in the brain, according to GRIN2B Foundation.
Changes to the GRIN2B gene are currently referred to as GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder. Individuals affected by a GRIN2B variation often experience developmental delays, low muscle tone, and speech delay or lack of speech, among other symptoms. Some have cortical visual impairment, seizures, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and/or intellectual disabilities. So far, GRIN2B Foundation knows of several hundred people around the world diagnosed with this rare disorder.
