Microsoft 365 News 05-20-2021: Supplier to Introduce Teams Group Chats With External Users

    • Advanced Delivery for third-party phishing simulation configuration in Microsoft Defender for Office 365
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is adding an Advanced Delivery feature for configuring phishing simulations as well as message delivery to security operations mailboxes.
    • Continuous access evaluation for premium Azure Active Directory (AD) tenants
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has announced plans to start implementing continuous access evaluation (CAE) for premium Azure AD tenants beginning June 15, 2021, to improve security.
    • Public preview: New Filters feature for Microsoft Endpoint Manager
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has released a public preview of a new Filters capability that gives IT admins the ability to target specific devices with apps and policies.
    • Public preview: Move content from Dropbox to Microsoft 365
      • What’s happening: Leveraging Microsoft’s support for third-party cloud solution suppliers, admins can migrate content to Microsoft 365 from Dropbox with this new feature release.
    • Home page dashboard in SharePoint admin center
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is introducing a new customizable home page dashboard featuring insights as cards and actionable charts in the SharePoint admin center.
    • Enable and disable comments for lists
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is giving end users the ability to turn comments on and off for individual lists. This capability will be available in Advanced settings > List settings.
    • Jump to Page feature in OneDrive mobile app
      • What’s happening: Microsoft OneDrive Android and iOS end users will soon be able to type the page number into Jump to Page to move to a specific place in a PDF document.
    • Immersive Reader for SharePoint and OneDrive
      • What’s happening: SharePoint and OneDrive end users will soon have access to Immersive Reader for Word documents and text files.
    • Workspace booking on mobile devices to include floor plans
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has announced the introduction of a floor plan feature for reserved workspaces to make those spaces easier to locate.
    • Teams group chats with external end users
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has announced the introduction of a group chat feature that allows end users to start and take part in chats with people outside of your organization (Azure AD identity required). Up to 250 users across various organizations can be involved in one chat.

Updated Features

    • Yammer feed to include SharePoint news
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has announced that Yammer end users will start to see SharePoint News in their Yammer Home Feed over the next few weeks.
    • General availability: PowerPoint modern comments experience for enterprise
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has announced the general availability of the PowerPoint modern comments experience for enterprise. This new experience includes features such as the ability to resolve comments, @mentions, and the option to anchor comments to text and objects.
    • Microsoft compliance center: New Permissions landing page
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is implementing a new permissions management page that admins can utilize to review and assign user roles as well as establish and alter custom role groups.
    • Opt-out option for Multi-Window Producer experience
      • What’s happening: Microsoft recently introduced the Multi-Window Producer experience for Live Events. Due to the lack of a Call Health Panel in this new experience, the supplier is now allowing clients to opt out and revert to the single view experience.
    • New “send” button position in Outlook for iOS
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is relocating the “send” button in Outlook for iOS so it’s in a more convenient place for end users typing with their thumbs.
    • Updates issued to all channels for Microsoft 365 Apps
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has released updates to Microsoft 365 Apps to the following update channels: Current Channel, Monthly Enterprise Channel, Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, and Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview).
    • Outlook for Web “Notifications” pane renamed to “Activity”
      • What’s happening: Microsoft is changing the name of the panel under the bell icon in Outlook for Web from “Notifications” to “Activity.”

    • Reminder: Upcoming Delve mobile retirement
      • What’s happening: Microsoft has issued a reminder of the planned retirement of Delve mobile for iOS and Android effective June 1, 2021. The supplier advises utilizing Outlook Mobile for similar functionality.
